China SHOCKS Trump Administration With STERN Warning On South China Sea!
BEIJING — Beijing sent a stern warning to the Trump Administration on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, that they would not back down over it’s claims in the South China Sea where there has been a growing dispute. The Trump Administration has promised to defend any Interest the US might have in the international waters.
China has been building artificial islands in the are and appear to be placing weapon systems in place on the island and the potential military use of the islands could create a bad situation for everyone involved.
There has been a lot of tough talk from President Trump where China is concerned, since before he even began to campaign for President. Now that he is the President of the United States, Beijing is taking his comments a tad more serious and firming up their stance against him.
“China has indisputable sovereignty over the South China Sea islands and their adjacent waters,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular press briefing, adding that the country is “firm in safeguarding our rights and interests.”
“The United States is not a party to the South China Sea issue.”
The White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has made it clear that the United States is going to protect our interest in the area.
“If those islands are, in fact, in international waters and not part of China proper, yeah, we’ll make sure we defend international interests from being taken over by one country,” Spicer said.
Rex Tillerson, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State made the comment during his confirmation hearing that China’s access to the islands might be blocked, setting the stage for a possible military confrontation.
Beijing has been bold and stern in regard to the waters in the area and have not paused a heartbeat building and arming the man made islands.
If the Chinese are allowed to completely build out the islands and manage to get them well armed, they could possibly end up controlling access through the international waters.
China, with their single aircraft carrier and a few other bathtub boats, would not have a chance against the US Navy. There has been a lot of talk in Beijing about building their nuclear arsenal though, mainly in response to the press reports that President Trump has been talking about inspecting and renewing the US nuclear weapons systems.
If anyone reading this ever ends up fighting the Chinese in Beijing, don’t get suckered into chasing anyone into the underground city built in large tunnels. I’ve been in them and they are designed with all kinds of nasty tricks built into them to keep unwanted visitors out.
Let’s hope that the Chinese and President Trump find a way to get along and start dialog that’s a tad bit more friendly with one another. 🙂
