The country music legend Glen Campbell has passed away at the age of 81 in Nashville, Tn at a facility for Alzheimer’s patients at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

His death comes after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and it is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.

Glen Campbell released more than 70 albums during his 50-year career. Among them were hits like “Gentle on My Mind,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston,” “Country Boy” and of course his best selling single, “Rhinestone Cowboy.”

Campbell was also an actor and also starred in a TV variety show, “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” broadcast on CBS from 1969 to 1972.

Glen Campbell is survived by his wife, Kim Campbell and 8 children.
