The social justice warriors and their “white privilege” crusade to make anyone with a pale skin tone quake with guilt because of it just can’t handle the pushback. Check out what happens when a city council member actually says she resents being booked a guilt trip to the Congo by the town’s mayor, Val Johnson of New Brighton, Minnesota.
Does this qualify as a cat fight since the combatants are women?
The councilwoman has a point. In the United States, we are all privileged, fair or not, on the world stage because we are Americans. It doesn’t matter the color of our skin. Being AMERICAN and a part of a culture of exceptionalism is the glue that binds us as a people. Color of skin does not matter. Those of us who are descended from Irish, Spanish, Italian and any number of other immigrant groups know darn well and good that skin color was in no way a privilege at that time, and in certain company still isn’t. Some religions were not – and are not – any sort of a privilege (try being Catholic in some parts of this nation). Those of us who bear such stigmas are not singled out for special FAVORABLE treatment. Outright derision, yes, but rarely any vibes that are positive outside of specific locales.
However, those tidbits are like Kryptonite to social justice warriors like Val Johnson.
Kate at Small Dead Animals added:
If you’re a Social Justice Warrior, here’s a standard set of tactics to get your way:
1.) Proclaim anything you wish, no matter how ludicrous.
2.) If anyone dares disagree with you, call them a racist, bigot, homophobe, or Islamophobe.
3.) If they dare object, scream at them that they are out of order and to stop interrupting you.
4.) Start shaking and crying, proclaiming how passionate you are about what you’re saying.
5.) Do whatever you need to do to make yourself out to be the victim.
Emotional instability in action? Or a lack of having grown up? You decide.
In the meantime, don’t be a social justice warrior. The arguments for the cause just fall apart upon further inspection.
