A 12-year veteran of the New York City Police Department was killed last night when a gunman walked up on her sitting inside a temporary headquarters vehicle on East 183rd Street and Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights.
The female police officer was rushed to St. Barnabus Hospital where surgeons rushed to try and save her, but the gun shot wound was too serious and she passed away undergoing surgery.
The Officer who was shot once in the head has been identified as 58-year-old Miosotis Familia, a 12-year-veteran who was assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of the 46th Precinct.
Two other NYPD Officers confronted the attacker about a block away and shot him dead. A silver revolver was found near the dead suspect.
A bystander was inadvertently shot in the stomach, was rushed to St. Barnabas and is in stable condition.
