I don’t know how the rest of you are going to feel about this story, but when I heard about this my blood instantly began boiling.
By now I am sure everyone has heard about the cowardly response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department under the “amazing leadership” of Sheriff Israel—his words not mine.
It seems like we are learning more and more details about what took place with each passing day and none of it has been good. I doubt I am the only one that would love to hear of something positive taking place… How great would it be to learn about a Police Officer that ran into the building while shots were being fired and saved a classroom full of young children?
Instead, though we are constantly seeing a daily stream of information being revealed that looks more like something from a reality show called “The Ultimate Circle Jerk” featuring the most incompetent, cowardly law enforcement officers of the Broward County Sheriff’s Department.
The episode I bring to you today features three members of the Miramar Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team. Miramar is a neighboring jurisdiction next to Broward County where at least three law enforcement officers whose testosterone has not been totally depleted did not act like complete cowards when they heard about shots being fired in a nearby high school.
When the call went out that children were being massacred by an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Detective Jeffrey Gilbert, Detective Carl Schlosser, and Officer Kevin Gonzalez, all members of the Miramar SWAT Team, were in separate but nearby locations and unlike the Officers who initially responded from the Broward County Sheriff’s Department who sought out a safe place to hide as far from the building where the shooting was taking place as possible, all three of these officers headed toward the gunfire unconcerned for their own personal safety.
Officer Kevin Gonzalez was so disturbed by the events that transpired that he took to social media and made several posts that put the city and police in a negative light which was in violation of the Department’s social media policy and code of conduct.
As a result of what should be and is for most police officers their natural instinct to run toward the sound of gunfire to save lives landed all three of these officers a suspension and they were removed from the Miramar Special Weapons and Tactics Team.
Unfortunately, these Officers are serving among cowards and their willingness to risk and sacrifice everything without regard for their own personal safety left many around them in the spotlight of cowardly shame and while a coward like Sheriff Israel remains in office eating candy and playing with his nuts, these three heroes are silenced and punished.
Any officer can get by on his sergeants. To be a sergeant you have to know your stuff. I’d rather be an outstanding sergeant than just another officer.
