Memorial Day 2014

Memorial Day Weekend has begun! Memorial Day is about remembering those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this great nation…

It is often said that Memorial Day is not about barbecues, picnics and family outings, but I would argue that is not entirely true. To be sure, we should NEVER forget what and who the day represents and honoring those men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice should ALWAYS be at the forefront!

What did these men and women give their lives for though? They gave their lives so that ALL American’s could enjoy the freedoms our founding fathers gave birth to over 200 years ago… They gave their lives so that future generations of American’s could enjoy the freedom to assemble, the freedom to worship any God, plant, animal, or statue, or weird God they could dream up… They gave their lives so that we could enjoy a reasonable expectation of our privacy and to be secure in our person, place, and things…They gave their lives so that we could all enjoy the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness…

That being said, what better way to show their sacrifice was not in vain by gathering with your family and friends, saying a prayer, and enjoying the fruits of your labor and the freedom to assemble they have provided you…

Maybe take a minute to be silent and listen to the wonderful life you have been given as American’s… When you don’t hear the rat-tat-tat of machine gun fire, or the sound of incoming mortars and artillery, or the screams of people all around you… Bow your head and thank God that there were those willing to give all so that you could raise your family in such a peaceful setting… There are MANY people around the world who do not enjoy such peace and solitude and those that keep it away from you… Well, they don’t enjoy it either…

NEVER FORGET!!!
